Always make sure these medications are secured in cabinets out of the reach of pets:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ibuprofen and acetaminophen<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cold and flu treatments<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Herbal supplements and vitamins<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Joint rubs&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Anticonvulsants<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Antidepressants<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Heart medications&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Veterinary Prescriptions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Just because your pet has a prescription for a medication doesn\u2019t mean it\u2019s safe if your pet consumes a large amount. Since many medications made for pets contain flavoring to make them more enticing, it\u2019s important to keep them in a secure place where your pet can\u2019t find them.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Toxic Food for Pets<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Preventing accidental <a href=\"https:\/\/www.switzerveterinaryclinic.com\/blog\/fall-hazards-for-pets-identifying-and-preventing-seasonal-dangers\/\">pet poisoning<\/a> isn\u2019t just about obvious hazards like chemicals and medications. There are many foods people enjoy every day that are toxic\u2014potentially even deadly\u2014for pets to consume. Some of these substances have inviting odors or come in colorful packages that can attract the attention of curious cats and canines.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These household items are common pet toxins that pose a serious risk to pet safety:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>House paints (interior and exterior) and construction adhesives<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Skincare produces like sunscreen, soap, topical analgesics for muscle pain like Biofreeze<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Household cleaning products containing bleach or ammonia; air fresheners with phthalates; disinfectants that contain benzalkonium chloride<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lawn and garden items like fertilizer, insecticide, and pesticides<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Antifreeze<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Preventing Accidental Pet Poisoning<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Pet poison prevention begins with staying informed about common pet toxins and practicing household pet safety, which includes keeping harmful substances away from pets, promptly cleaning up spills, and choosing pet-safe cleaning products and plants whenever possible.
